Wilson had his first birthday and party on October 21st. Here's the report:

The event took place after we returned home from his baptism (more on that later). Little Man had a house full of people here to see him and although he had recently had a bout of stomach flu--so no cake this year--he was cheerful and sociable.

His Montana grandparents came out for his party and they were joined by most of the Washington family and many of our friends. Aunt Katrina even drove all the way out from Pullman just to be with him on his big day. Wilson had a special surprise when his daycare teacher, Amy, and his daycare girlfriend, Madelyn, showed up. Ex-girlfriend Shay was very gracious and a scene was fortunately avoided.

Wilson enjoyed his dinosaur party and had a bunch of fun playing with all of his cousins and other friends that came to see him. The house was pretty crowded but everyone found a spot and a good time was had by all.

Wee Pea.

Meet the newest addition to our family: Wee Pea. He or she is 9 weeks strong, and amazingly, Mommy swears she's already felt him/her move about. (That or there is something very wrong with Mommy's digestive system. Which could happen.) We heard the heartbeat on Monday afternoon, which was a tremendous thrill. No matter how many times we've heard it before, each time that little 'powh-powh' sound comes through the doppler, our guts somersault.

Wee Pea is about the size of a grape. He/she has grown elbows, and his/her intestines are moving from the umbilical cord to the belly this week. The spine continues to straighten. Wee Pea is busy!

Welcome!

If you're here, it means that you've heard some good news from or about us recently. It's true! Come the first week of June we are expecting a new member of our little family.

Now that we have a new arrival (and because enough people were sorry to see the old blog go away), it's only right to get back into the baby blog business. We hope you like the new site; we're hoping that it makes it easier to access and to post entries, especially pictures. Old blog posts can still be accessed at itsbabies.mrack.com, of course.

One last thing: Before we get a bunch of hate mail from all the second-borns out there about first-borns elbowing their way into everyone else's show, this is a two-baby blog. So, there will be lots of stuff about Wilson here, too.
