Nicole took Wilson to the doctor yesterday and he got good reviews for his health. He is in the 50th percentile for weight, 75th for height and 65th for head size. I've always hoped he'd be tall, slim and kind of smart, so that's OK with me.
On the downside, he also got a couple of shots yesterday which left him sore and not comfortable to walk or crawl around. Poor little man! A little Advil and a lot of Mommy TLC did the trick on that one, however.

Violet.
Her middle name is still under discussion, but for the curious, we've decided that Wee Pea's official name will be Violet.

Pearly White Baby!
Last night before bed, I went to brush Wilson's teeth like usual, and by golly if he didn't take that brush right out of my hand and start brushing them himself. Periodically he'd pull it out and exclaim "Yay!"
With a little help from mommy, he even got to his molars and behind his top front teeth.
GOOD BABY!

Polite Baby!
I am pleased to share with y'all that Wilson said thank you today!!
I gave him some pieces of scone for breakfast, and when I was done breaking them up on his high chair tray, he said "shay-shew"!

Wilson's Newest Vocabumtary Update.
Wilson's vocabulary is growing by the day. Here are some sounds and words that have recently been added:
General:
Ball ("ba")
Football ("ba ba")
What's that? ("tikkee?" + finger point)
Gentle ("duh duh" + petting motion)
Beep beep
Vroom vroom
Shhhhhhhh (+ fingertip to nose)
Animal sounds he knows and imitates:
Elephant (+ arm as a trunk)
Chicken
Dog
Cat
Sheep
Bird ("cheep cheep")
Bear/lion/dinosaur (or anything that says "rah")
He knows the word "bunny" because every time we say it, he runs to see Milo. We have no idea what bunnies say, so we've conveniently skipped that particular vocalization lesson. Giraffes pose a similar problem...

Week 19.
We're rapidly approaching the half-way mark. AAGGHHH! There is so much to do between now and June...Little Wee Pea measures about 8-9 inches long now, and weighs somewhere around 8 ounces. She continues to be very active, which is always a comfort, even when it's very uncomfortable. ;D She's been growing a lot this past week...yesterday and the day before were pretty achy for me, but as I said to Josh, it's one of those pains you're pleased to put up with because it means very good things are happening inside.
This is an important phase for Wee Pea's sensory development. As she continues to grow bigger, she scrunches more and more, putting her hands and feet within reach of her face. This is how babies learn about touch. Isn't that incredible?
I see the doctor next Monday for the 20 week checkup, and for a weigh-in. I've been eating like a starving woman, so I hope to report a nice big number back to you then. In the meantime, not much going on here. Well, except scraping blueberries off the wall where Wilson threw them, and trying very hard not to throttle them when he mocks us with head-shakes when we tell him "NO!"
